Rev. John Vance, Senior Pastor

No doubt the members of most every local church believe they form a unique
body, and that they have a unique experience to offer through its ministry.
I believe this feeling is justified because it is true. This feeling
of uniqueness is no less true of those who constitute the community of
faith here at Westminster. What, then, is unique about Westminster?
Westminster is unique because the church lacks novelty in its core
approach to ministry. What we mean by this is that God does not change,
Christ does not change, grace does not change, and the basic spiritual
needs of people do not change. In order for the church to be the
church, the church must recognize this simple fact. Thus, we welcome
you to Westminster to hear and experience the grace of God as Christ is
offered through the preaching and teaching of the Gospel. We don’t
care if we are not up to date in certain ways.
We welcome you, also, because of what the Westminster is as a community
of believers. In the Bible the church is called the Community of
Saints, and the Body of Christ. Christian fellowship is very important
to us. We want to experience Christ, and to look and hope for Christ
to be formed in one another as believers. We are not a church that
is activity oriented for the sake of activity. The primary emphasis
in our church is on the family. Nevertheless, it is important for
the church to engage in such activities and services that promotes true
Christian fellowship. Christians need good friends and good fellowship.
The final reason I offer to point to our uniqueness is our genuine
desire to ascribe to the Lord that glory which is due his name. I
speak of course of worship. No higher calling has the Christian than
to “glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.” Westminster always strives
to have excellent worship services that are both Biblical and helpful.
We want the worshipers to encounter the triune God in worship. If
this is attained, then, indeed, God is glorified.
Come join us and find out what we mean in speaking so of Westminster.
You can only truly know our uniqueness as you truly get to know us in community.
